Built for Hazardous and Harsh Sites
What matters at the wellhead and on the plant floor, and how a rugged Toughbook handles it.
Class 1 Division 2
For areas where flammable gases or vapors may be present under abnormal conditions, choose a model certified for Class 1 Division 2, Groups A–D. It's an option on the Toughbook 40, 34, G2 and G3, and C1D2 versions of the CF-33 exist.
Certified, not just rugged
Hazardous-location ratings apply to specific factory configurations, so a C1D2 unit must be ordered that way. Tell us your area classification and we'll quote the right build.
Sealed against the elements
IP65 and IP66 sealing keeps out dust, rain, spray and washdowns, and MIL-STD-810 testing covers drops, vibration and temperature extremes.
Readable in the sun
1,200-nit screens on the Toughbook 40 and CF-33 stay readable on an exposed pad or platform.
Barcode scanning built in
Barcode reader options on the Toughbook 40, CF-33 and FZ-G1 for asset tracking, inspections and inventory.
Connected in remote areas
Optional 4G LTE or 5G with GPS, and antenna pass-through for vehicle-mounted antennas on models like the Toughbook 40 and 55.
Common uses in oil, gas and industry
- Inspections and integrity management
- SCADA and control system access
- Maintenance work orders

What Our Customers Say
A few recent 5-star reviews from verified buyers on Trustpilot, in their own words.
I did a lot of comparison shopping before purchasing a computer a few months ago. Not only does Tough Outlet have some of the best pricing, they have more customization options than other vendors. On top of that, their customer service is OUTSTANDING. When I needed another unit this week, I didn't to shop around. Tough Books will have my business always!
The cf-33 i bought from them has been a trooper for me. Laptop had no scratches, broken/cracked plastics, missing parts, nonfunctional interfaces etc. I am completely satisfied with their service and support.
Very good, reliable, sturdy PANASONIC CF53 PC and excellent service when I purchased a new, rubberized keyboard; and now when I purchased a new Windows 11 hard drive to update the PC. Brian's customer service is commendable.
Emails with Brian were sooper fast. Answered my questions rapidly and sent me a quote that i couldn't refuse which included the place order box. I've always had a ton of respect for these Toughbooks !!!!
Great price and great customer service. And shipped fast as well. Couldnt ask for more.

Oil, Gas & Industrial Laptop FAQ
What does Class 1 Division 2 (C1D2) mean?
It's a North American hazardous-location classification for areas where flammable gases or vapors aren't normally present but could be under abnormal conditions, such as a leak. Equipment certified for C1D2 is designed not to ignite that atmosphere. Groups A–D cover the specific gases.
Which Toughbooks are available with C1D2?
New Toughbook 40, 34, G2 and G3 models are available with optional C1D2, Groups A–D certification, and C1D2 versions of the CF-33 exist. Certification depends on the exact configuration, so please request a quote.
Can I use a C1D2 laptop in a Division 1 area?
No. C1D2 equipment isn't rated for Division 1 areas, where flammable gases are present under normal conditions. Those areas need equipment certified for Division 1.
Are rugged laptops sealed against water and dust?
Yes. Fully rugged Toughbooks are sealed to IP65 (dust-tight, protected against water jets), and newer models like the Toughbook 40, 34 and G3 to IP66 (powerful water jets).
Do you sell to plants and contractors in volume?
Yes. We offer volume pricing, price matching and purchase orders (contact us first), and we can match models across your existing fleet.
