Built for the Back of the Rig
Emergency work is hard on computers. Here is what matters on a call, and how a rugged Toughbook handles it.
Drops and spills
Fully rugged Toughbooks are sealed to IP65 or better and drop-tested to MIL-STD-810, so a fall from the stretcher or a spill in the cab isn't the end of the shift.
Easy to wipe down
Sealed ports and keyboards, and tablets without a keyboard at all, make it easier to clean a unit between patients.
Charting at the patient's side
Tablets and convertibles like the CF-33, CF-19 and FZ-G1 let medics fill out an electronic patient care report (ePCR) and capture signatures by touch or pen.
Gloves on
Gloved multi-touch screens on models like the CF-20 and CF-54 keep working when hands are gloved.
Readable outside
Sunlight-viewable screens for daylight scene work, from the 800-nit FZ-G1 to the 1,200-nit CF-33.
Connected to dispatch
Optional 4G LTE with GPS for CAD and mapping, with FirstNet (Band 14) support on newer models like the Toughbook 55 and 40.
Common uses in EMS and fire
- Electronic patient care reports (ePCR)
- CAD and dispatch
- Incident command
- Pre-plans and hydrant maps
- Mapping and AVL
- Inspections and fire reports
- Hospital notifications

What Our Customers Say
A few recent 5-star reviews from verified buyers on Trustpilot, in their own words.
I did a lot of comparison shopping before purchasing a computer a few months ago. Not only does Tough Outlet have some of the best pricing, they have more customization options than other vendors. On top of that, their customer service is OUTSTANDING. When I needed another unit this week, I didn't to shop around. Tough Books will have my business always!
The cf-33 i bought from them has been a trooper for me. Laptop had no scratches, broken/cracked plastics, missing parts, nonfunctional interfaces etc. I am completely satisfied with their service and support.
Very good, reliable, sturdy PANASONIC CF53 PC and excellent service when I purchased a new, rubberized keyboard; and now when I purchased a new Windows 11 hard drive to update the PC. Brian's customer service is commendable.
Emails with Brian were sooper fast. Answered my questions rapidly and sent me a quote that i couldn't refuse which included the place order box. I've always had a ton of respect for these Toughbooks !!!!
Great price and great customer service. And shipped fast as well. Couldnt ask for more.

EMS & Fire Laptop FAQ
What is the best tablet for ePCR?
Most agencies choose a rugged tablet or detachable 2-in-1 so medics can chart at the patient's side. The CF-33 is a 12" detachable with a keyboard for the cab, the FZ-G1 and Toughbook G3 are light 10.1" tablets, and the CF-19 is a convertible with a built-in keyboard. Tell us which ePCR software you run and we'll help you pick.
Can the same unit be mounted in the ambulance and carried to the patient?
Yes. The CF-33, CF-20 and Toughbook 34 detach from their keyboards, and vehicle docks are made for each, so the tablet charges in the dock and comes out for the call. Docks are model-specific; see our mounting solutions or ask us.
How rugged are these for EMS work?
Fully rugged Toughbooks like the CF-33, CF-19 and FZ-G1 are sealed to IP65 and tested to MIL-STD-810G for drops, shock and vibration. Newer models like the Toughbook G3 and 34 are sealed to IP66 and drop-tested from 6 feet.
Can you match the units we already have?
Yes. We keep a large refurbished inventory and can match model and generation across your fleet, so docks, chargers and software images stay compatible.
Do you work with agencies on budget?
Yes. Refurbished Toughbooks cost 30 to 90% less than new, and we offer volume pricing, price matching and purchase orders (contact us first). Tax-exempt agencies can upload their exemption certificate at checkout.
