The Panasonic TOUGHBOOK 34 is a fully rugged 12.4" detachable 2-in-1: use it as a tablet for data collection in the field, then click in the optional keyboard for reporting. It's the world's most modular rugged tablet, powered by Intel® Core™ Ultra Series 3 AI processors, with optional 5G, Wi-Fi 7, up to 18 hours of hot-swappable battery life, and a 3:2 display built for real work.
TOUGHBOOK 34 Key Features
World's Most Modular Rugged Tablet
Four user-replaceable areas — battery, SSD and two expansion bays. Add a 2D barcode reader, true serial, HDMI, second USB-A, smart card, contactless smart card or fingerprint reader as your job changes.
Intel Core Ultra Series 3 AI
A Copilot+ PC and the first fully rugged tablet on Intel Core Ultra Series 3: Ultra 5 vPro 335 standard, or Ultra X7 vPro 368H with up to 16 CPU cores, 12 GPU cores, Intel Arc graphics and a dedicated NPU.
12.4" 3:2 Display
FHD+ 1920 × 1280 with gloved touch and digitizer pen, 2–1000 nits, anti-reflective, Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The 3:2 shape means less scrolling in CAD and forms — and a size closer to a sheet of paper.
Up to 18-Hour Battery
9 hours standard, 18 hours with the optional second battery. With two batteries installed you can hot-swap one without shutting down — no lost work mid-shift.
5G, Wi-Fi 7 & Private LTE
Optional 5G EM9291 modem (Sub6 + C-band) up to 3.5 Gbps, FirstNet Band 14, CBRS B48/B106/n48 private cellular including Anterix, dual SIM (physical + eSIM), Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
2-in-1 Flexibility
Detach for tablet work, attach the Premium or Lite keyboard for laptop work. The keyboards connect by a physical dock connector — no Bluetooth pairing, no keyboard batteries to charge.
Built-In Security
OPAL encrypted SSD and software encryption standard. 5MP IR webcam for Windows Hello facial login. Add TOUGHBOOK Total Defense and TOUGHBOOK Guard for end-to-end and supply-chain protection.
9+ Years of Dock Compatibility
Backwards compatible with many existing vehicle docks and peripherals, so upgrading a TOUGHBOOK 33 fleet doesn't mean replacing every mount.

TOUGHBOOK 34 FAQ
Is the TOUGHBOOK 34 a laptop or a tablet?
Both. The TOUGHBOOK 34 is a detachable 2-in-1: a fully rugged 12.4" tablet that docks into an optional rugged keyboard for laptop-style use. The keyboard is sold separately, so customers who already own compatible keyboards don't pay twice.
Does the TOUGHBOOK 34 work with my TOUGHBOOK 33 keyboards and docks?
Yes. The TOUGHBOOK 34 works with any TOUGHBOOK 33 or 34 keyboard, and it is backwards compatible with many existing vehicle docks — over nine years of dock compatibility. Call us with your dock part numbers and we'll confirm.
How long does the TOUGHBOOK 34 battery last?
Up to 9 hours on the standard battery and up to 18 hours with the optional second battery. With both installed, either battery can be hot-swapped without shutting down.
Is the TOUGHBOOK 34 waterproof?
It is IP66 rated — dust-tight and protected against powerful water jets — and tested to MIL-STD-810H, including 6-foot drops. An optional Class 1 Division 2 model is available for hazardous locations.
Does the TOUGHBOOK 34 have 5G?
5G is optional. The EM9291 modem supports 4G LTE and 5G Sub6/C-band at up to 3.5 Gbps, FirstNet Band 14, CBRS private cellular, and dual SIM (physical + eSIM). Every unit includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
Why does the TOUGHBOOK 34 use a 3:2 screen?
A 3:2 display is taller than widescreen, so you scroll less in apps like computer-aided dispatch and forms, it feels closer to an 8.5 × 11 sheet, and its shape sits more easily clear of vehicle airbag zones.
What comes in the box?
The tablet ships with a digitizer stylus pen and tether, a pen holder and a cleaning cloth. The keyboard and second battery are optional add-ons we can bundle into your quote.
