What makes the TOUGHBOOK 56 the most modular rugged laptop?
It has six user-replaceable areas — battery, memory, storage and three xPAK expansion bays — for over 5,760 possible configurations. xPAKs can add an optical drive, smart card or other authentication readers, a barcode scanner, or extra I/O including up to three Ethernet ports at up to 10 Gbps.
How long does the TOUGHBOOK 56 battery last?
Up to 12 hours on the standard battery and up to 24 hours with the optional second battery module (MobileMark 30).
Will the TOUGHBOOK 56 work with my existing vehicle docks?
Standard TOUGHBOOK 56 models offer over a decade of backwards compatibility with vehicle docks, so they work with your existing fleet. The 8GB dGPU model is the exception: it has no docking connector and is not compatible with vehicle docks.
What is the TOUGHBOOK 56 dGPU option?
It's the first rugged PC available with an 8GB discrete GPU, delivering up to 34.5 peak TOPS with 56 AI accelerators for graphics-heavy and AI workloads. On dGPU models the RAM and the left and rear expansion areas are not user-replaceable.
Is the TOUGHBOOK 56 waterproof?
The TOUGHBOOK 56 is rugged, rated IP53 for dust and water spray, tested to MIL-STD-810H and drop-tested to 3 feet. If you need fully rugged protection (IP66, 6-ft drops), look at the TOUGHBOOK 34 or TOUGHBOOK G3 tablets.
Does the TOUGHBOOK 56 have 5G?
5G is optional, with Sub6 and C-band support at speeds up to 3.5 Gbps, dual SIM (physical + eSIM) and FirstNet Band 14. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth come standard.
Can the TOUGHBOOK 56 run Linux?
Yes. In addition to Windows 11 Pro, the TOUGHBOOK 56 is offered with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10.1.
